There are hundreds of millions of dollars worth of weapons being made in Vermont, from Elbit Systems, to Collins Aerospace, to General Dynamics, and many others.

In fact, Israel’s largest weapons manufacturer, Elbit Systems has a $191 million contract to make weapons right here in Vermont.

Many of these weapons systems are actively in use in the Israeli arsenal, from Elbit’s “Iron Fist” system, to General Dynamics’ MK-82 missile.

We need to figure out which weapons are being shipped from Vermont to Israel’s genocide. And then we need to pass legislation to ban these companies from Vermont until they stop doing business with Israel––or until the Apartheid system, illegal settlements and displacements, and the military occupation of Palestine all come to an end.

The Bombs Are Made Here:

Stop the War Economy

Build the Peace Economy!

Vermont Peace/Anti-war Coalition’s Information Campaign on the Vermont Weapons Industry has so far been endorsed by Migrant Justice, Free Her Vermont, About Face Vermont, WILPF’s Vermont chapter, and Green Mountain Veterans for Peace. We have more endorsements to come. This work connects all of us.

Elbit Systems also makes surveillance equipment that is used at the border and by ICE across the country.

Militarized police departments across the country are given weapons that were originally produced for the military. Burlington’s own police department uses Elbit’s surveillance towers.

We can have hundreds of millions of dollars go to flood resilience, housing, and medical care for Vermonters, instead of funding weapons for genocide, war and oppression.

We can have far more jobs for Vermonters, with real benefits for the economy and our people, if we convert these weapons factories and their workers for a wide variety of uses. This could range from repairing tractor parts, to making musical instruments. But we need your expertise to generate more workable plans.

Israel’s Largest Weapons Company has a $191 Million Contract in Vermont

Elbit Systems is partnering with General Dynamics in Williston, Vermont to make a weapon called the “Iron Fist.”

The Iron Fist has been mounted on IDF D-9 Bulldozers which demolish Palestinian homes, and on IDF armored vehicles which kill children, women, and civilians of all kinds in Palestine. The Iron Fist further weaponizes these vehicles to allow further impunity for genocide and illegal settlements.

Vermonters did not vote to give $191 million in federal tax dollars to these weapons for genocide, war and Apartheid! We did not vote to have these weapons built in our state!

This contract gives $191 million to Israel’s largest weapons company to build weapons in Vermont. That makes this state complicit in genocide and Apartheid.

But we have the power to educate, the State Legislature has the power to ban these companies, and our elected representatives have the power to support this effort. Our congressional delegation’s offices can provide legal expertise to persuade the Vermont Attorney General to bring a suit challenging these companies’ complicity in genocide, war crimes, and Apartheid.

The Vermont Senate Democrats have released a statement calling the Israeli assault on Gaza a genocide. All three of our federal representatives are now open to describing what is happening as a genocide. Becca Balint, Peter Welch and Bernie Sanders have all signed onto or sponsored legislation to restrict the sale of weapons to Israel. We appreciate all of their efforts so far. And yet, we have a massive contract with the largest Israeli weapons manufacturer here in the state of Vermont. This cannot stand!
